Our Goal. Our desire is to provide the tools for the team approach to facilitate the healing of a child with Reactive Attachment Disorder (R.A.D.). Our Story. Connection Resources was formed to help families burdened by R.A.D. in the spring of 2002. These families, typically, become overwhelmed by the behaviors of children reacting to their love. These behaviors produce isolation and despair for the families. Our publications were written and published for a team approach to R.A.D.. Ideally, this team will be directed by the family therapist and comprised of an on-site, educated support member, and the mom. Other team members can be added from the school and the community. When we began this project the team consisted of the mom and Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS). Both held a Bachelor of Science degree. The project was directed by a family therapist. The child was a fifteen year old male (adopted at 11) who had been recently discharged from a Residential Treatment Facility (RTF). More than 5000 professional hours were devoted to developing this approach and interventions. Many professionals, conferences and resources were consulted in perfecting the techniques. Please join us as we work together in re-parenting children with attachment issues. The work is intense, the emotional turmoil is, at times, almost unbearable but the treasure of watching a child heal is a blessing. We are your support. We are your education source. We are Connection Resources. |
